News story about a new hair and beauty salon opened with support from the Kent Foundation

A new business arrived in Bow Road, Wateringbury a few weeks ago. ‘Hey Beautiful’, hair & beauty salon opened its doors and the owner is Carmen Glynn, a Kent Foundation member.

Carmen has been in the industry since leaving school and has long held the ambition to own her own salon. She worked at the Wateringbury salon, under the previous owner, earlier in her career and it has always held a special place in her affections. Along the way she looked at a number of other opportunities, but this one was always top of her list. The process of setting up and registering her own company, acquiring the existing business as a going concern and completing a new lease on the premises proved at times very “challenging” and took nearly two years in total.

As well as re-branding Carmen has has carried out a refit and face lift inside and out. She is delighted with the business so far and already looking to bring in another stylist. Carmen is very appreciative of the support she has received from The Kent Foundation throughout.

“When a client of mine recommended me to get in touch with The Kent Foundation, I had no idea how much time, dedication and support I was about to receive. I was paired with my mentor Mike and I cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me in the last couple of years, to make my dreams of opening my own salon become a reality. I can honestly say that I couldn’t have done it without him and will forever be grateful to him and The Kent Foundation”.
